A quick post before I head to work this morning.

Success From The Nest has a message about “nutty” customers that brings up a challenge most musicians have: spreading themselves too thin by trying to be everything to everyone. Over time, all that does is waterdown your dream and bland out your brand. You become the classic “jack of all trades and master of none.” The piece is specifically about customers that drive you crazy, but it applies to incorrect matches of any kind.

“The occasional nutty customer is just part of doing business. Knowing who those customers are, and how to deal with them, will set a tone for your business going forward. Part of good customer service is knowing when you aren’t the right
person for their needs. Be respectful and helpful, but some times there
are those that you just won’t be able to accommodate, no matter how
hard you try.”

Check out the post and pay particular attention to the fact that ultimately it’s about knowing who you are – strengths AND weaknesses – then defining and working within those parameters.

Excellent advice indeed.
