Coach Burt

I met local businessman and entrepreneur Coach Burt at a recent networking function.

When we began to talk about branding and messaging, he made the following statement:

“We use 14 channels as part of our marketing strategy – and it may not be enough.”

How Many Channels Are You Using?

Of course he was talking about websites like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc, but it got me thinking about all kinds of “channels.”

Things like:

  • Playing or singing at the right gigs.
  • Being seen at the right non-playing gigs.
  • Where you “hang” online (not always the same as where you “market” yourself).
  • Where you “hang” offline in the real world with real people.

‘Cause remember:

You’re Never NOT Marketing!

Which means:

  • You have to know what your “message” should be.
  • You have to know who the “right people” are that need to see and hear your message.
  • And you need to know which channels – online and off – are the channels for these “right people” because you’ll kill yourself trying to broadcast your message on all channels. It can’t be done.

Tell us what channels have been successful for you in the comments below.
