An E-mail Out of the Blue

I got an unexpected e-mail the other day from someone I had never met:

“Hi Steve, I just want to thank you for writing your book, “Why I Failed in the Music Business”. It has helped me tremendously with my songwriting goals and having a much stronger awareness of the business side of the the music business. I am so sorry that you weren’t able to reach your goals and I am very hopeful I can reach mine with the knowledge your have shared.
Thanks, Roger B.”

As you can imagine, it was a pleasant surprise.

It was also a timely reminder about my new goals to help people like Roger, and you, reach the right goals in music.

Then We Had Lunch

Roger’s e-mail came a week before he and his brother made a trip to Nashville as part of his songwriting goals. We got to have lunch and discuss his dreams and plans in more detail.

Afterwards he wrote, “Your advice and suggestions were really helpful and I plan to put them into action asap!”

He was also kind enough to write a review of my book for Amazon:

“This is a fantastic book for anyone trying to break into the music business! It is an easy read as well. The author has a very conversational style of writing and is also pretty funny throughout the book. I am currently an aspiring songwriter but I spent most of my 20s in bands trying to “make it”. I was very ambitious but did not have the right mindset or direction needed in order to acheive success. I wish I had this book ten years ago. What Steve does in this book, is tell you eveything he had done wrong and what he learned through his business experience as well as his own experiences as a working musician so you can avoid those mistakes. He also asks some great, probing questions in order for the reader to learn about what their own spedific goals and desires are within the music business and then gives you tools on how to focus on those goals to help you pursue your aspirations with direction. If you are really serious about being in the music business, you have to read this book! The best money I have spent in a very long time!!!
